I took a really early bus toward Aberdeen from Dundee Seagate Bus Station. It was so early that the station wasn’t even opened yet. The bus was a few minutes late but it managed to reach Aberdeen on time. Napping on the bus was easy because there wasn’t a lot of passengers in the morning so it is spacious and quiet.
When I reached Aberdeen I was debating whether to set off towards Kincorth Hill or to wait till sunrise. But thinking I’ll probably get lost (which I did) and sunrise was another 1 to 2 hours later, I decided to set off.
Aberdeen is really cold right now. I’m not sure whether it snowed, but the floor was covered in ice. Definitely colder than Dundee. It only became warmer after sunrise.
Spent the first 30 minutes walking aimlessly because I could not figure out the direction. But once I found the right track, it is very easy to walk because it is mainly walking in a straight line. If you plan to walk to Kincorth Hill from Aberdeen Bus Station, it will take you at least an hour unless you have really strong legs. It took me a really long time because
- It was dark
- I could not find my way at first
- The road is slippery
- I took the wrong turn at the end
Because of my wrong turn, I managed to see pretty sunrise though. The sky was in a pretty shade of orange, which I do not know how to properly capture on the camera. 🙁
For my first one day Aberdeen Trip, I visited the following:
- Kincorth Hill
- Duthie Park – David Welch Winter Garden
- Union Square
- Mercat Cross
- St Andrew Cathedral
- Tolbooth Museum
- Aberdeen Christmas Market
- Maritime Museum
I’m going to post the different places separately in order to organize the photos. Also, I’m heading to Stirling tomorrow so I have to start planning. Will try to blog everything from the two trip before my Edinburgh Trip on 28 so that I will remember what I saw.
